Our Cause

Partners 4 Parks is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, passionate group that seeks to promote and enhance logopassive and active parks, greenways, open space and recreational activities in the Williamson and Maury County communities of Spring Hill and Thompsons Station.

Their Mission…

“To enhance the quality of life for the residents in the Williamson and Maury County communities of Spring Hill and Thompson’s Station, TN by promoting health and wellness through the development of passive and active parks, greenways, open space and recreational activities.”

Their Challenge…

Growing Community

Since 2004, eight schools have opened

  • Four elementary schools
  • Two middle schools
  • Two high schools
  • 34% of Spring Hill’s population under age of 18
  • 40% of Thompson’s Station’s population under age of 18

Local volunteer organizations are areas parks and recreation department

  • SWA (baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball)
  • Spring Hill Little League
  • Lions Club Baseball
  • Spring Hill Raiders Football
  • Spring Hill Coyotes Football
  • Outdoor Encounter (green-space and walking trails)

Support over 2,500 families with over 4,000 participants

Turning kids away due to lack of adequate facilities

Deficiencies in Parks and Recreation Infrastructure

Since 2004, only two parks have been constructed

  • Harvey Park, a small passive park in Spring Hill
  • Alexander Trail in Thompson’s Station

For every school opening, a park needs to be constructed to support the demand for passive and active recreational needs.

Spring Hill study concluded that community is severely under-served as it relates to parks

  • Green-space, walking trails, baseball/softball, football and soccer.

Deficiencies in Parks and Recreation Infrastructure

  • 1,000 kids playing baseball/softball on 8 fields spread out over three parks.
  • Two football leagues practicing on makeshift fields on school property
  • May or may not be available long-term

No opportunities for soccer

  • WCPR has approached SWA to run program but can not due to lack of land/facilities
  • Families forced to travel to Franklin/Brentwood

Few opportunities for safe walking environment.

By protecting, maintaining and expanding park resources, our community can continue to enjoy an excellent quality of life while keeping pace with our exceptional population and economic growth. Partners 4 Parks works collaboratively with all aspects of the community to ensure that our collective goals are met.
